Legalize it!

First of all, if you have received any correspondence from local representatives regarding marijuana prohibition or possible legalization, please share. I hope to compile and post these letters and emails from our duly elected policy makers sometime soon. But first, some ramblings...

So, it seems to be OK to torture individuals and commit war crimes, yet consuming cannabis - a plant - could land you in the slammer for any number of years! And potentially ruin your life and the lives of others. Could someone please explain the humanity and morality in this?

Additionally, our own federal government (via DHHS) holds a patent on cannabinoids, a component in marijuana. And do you know why? Among other helpful ingredients, it contains potential neuroprotectants! Oh the injustice and downright hypocrisy. Of course, the USA (excuse me, Big Pharma) wants to extract what they believe to be good and create massive profits in the process. This seems highly unethical.

It also reminds me of the Food Industry, and the manner in which they have corrupted our diet while marching to the beat of 'nutritionism'. These industries have forgotten that both food and marijuana have myriad ingredients, chemicals which (logically) act in synergy with one another for the betterment of our bodies. Subsequently, I have great misgivings about industries which center on increased consumption, year after year.

Nonetheless, we (the general public) are considered criminals for using medicine that has been scientifically proven to be of great benefit. However, implementing and justifying torture (A CRIME) doesn't even warrant an investigation, let alone incarceration... at least currently. To me, this makes absolutely no sense - and once again - appears unjust and slightly evil!

On a positive note, Prohibition will eventually cease just as it did with alcohol 75 years ago. While this will no doubt take extreme patience, I remain hopeful. And with a little dialogue and public awareness, it could happen sooner than one would imagine! Contact your local representative now.
